Fighting Cancer Until We Find A Cure!
About Us
BrAva is a nonprofit organization. Its name is a combination of Bridget Crock and Ava Nichols, two local girls who faced the challenges of childhood cancer. In honor of Bridget and in memory of Ava, we strive to help other families faced with the disease by providing funding and support. To date, BrAva has donated more than $550,000 to CureSearch and local families affected by childhood cancer.
BrAva hosts two main fundraisers each year. The first is BrAva Mom Prom, which is usually the third Friday in April. This event is for women only, age 21 or older. Mom Prom is the ultimate girls-night-out charity event where women can dress up, hang out, sample amazing foods from local vendors, dance the night away and honor moms affected by childhood cancer all in the name of supporting an important cause. Our other fundraiser is the BrAva Golf Outing, usually the last Saturday in July. We also hold a BrAva Family Fun Day for our BrAva families in September each year. This is not a fundraiser, but a celebration for our kids!
Childhood Cancer Information
Each day, 46 children are diagnosed with cancer.
Childhood cancers are the #1 killer of children - more than asthma, cystic fibrosis, diabetes, and pediatric AIDS combined.
On average, a treatment for childhood cancer is two years.
The cause of most childhood cancers is unknown and at present, cannot be prevented. (Most adult cancers result from lifestyle factors such as smoking, diet, occupation, and other exposure to cancer-causing agents).
On the average, 1 in every 4 elementary schools has a child with cancer. The average high school has two students who are a current or former cancer patient. In the U.S., about 46 children and adolescents are diagnosed with cancer every weekday.
We are so grateful to the 2024 BrAva Mom Prom GOLD Sponsor, the Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 3665 in Beverly, Ohio, for its generous $15,000 donation!
